Canals, Culture & Dutch Charm

Amsterdam is one of Europe's most distinctive and loveable cities — a compact, bicycle-friendly metropolis of 165 canals, 1,500 bridges, 17th-century merchants' houses leaning gently over still water, and one of the world's greatest concentrations of art museums.

The Rijksmuseum houses Rembrandt's Night Watch and Vermeer's Milkmaid; the Van Gogh Museum contains the world's largest collection of his work; the Anne Frank House is one of history's most moving memorials. All are within walking or cycling distance of each other.

Beyond Amsterdam, the Netherlands offers Kinderdijk's iconic windmills (UNESCO), Keukenhof's 7 million tulips (April–May), and the charming market towns of Edam, Gouda and Haarlem.
